Lagrein DOC 2018 | Kellerei St. Pauls | Südtirol (Alto Adige)
This Lagrein DOC 2018 from the St. Pauls winery in Appiano in South Tyrol is a wonderfully full-bodied, fruity red wine. In short: a Lagrein from South Tyrol that could hardly be better. The red wine is full-bodied and complex. Its aroma reminds of ripe cherries and wild berries. Its intense and fruity aroma is underlined by floral nuances of violets.
This Lagrein is also an excellent solo companion in the evening.
This very good South Tyrolean Lagrein will thank you in terms of taste if you keep it in the wine cellar for a few more years to enjoy it then. During storage, the tannins of this red wine are optimally integrated into the complex structure of the wine and its full-bodied taste will gain in harmony.
The Lagrein
The Lagrein is an autochthonous grape variety. This wine is immediately recognisable by its deep, dark colour.
It is a late-ripening grape variety that only thrives well on warm alluvial soils with a high gravel content. The result is a powerful, dense red wine of format, unique in its kind and only found in South Tyrol.
