Winery Manfred Rothe | Organic Winery | Wines from organic cultivation
The winery of organic winemaker Manfred Rothe and his family has been focusing on organic winegrowing for almost 40 years now. This means concretely renouncing artificial fertilisers, glyphosate and any kind of pesticides in the vineyard. Nature thanks the winegrower and every wine lover with wines full of minerality and of complex structure. The wines from the Bioweingut Rothe from Nordheim am Main have therefore been among the best organic wines on the market for many years. This is also confirmed by the numerous awards and evaluations of the relevant wine trade press such as Fallstaff, Vinum, Eichelmann, Gault Millau or Der Feinschmecker.
In order to continue his ecologically orientated way of wine production Manfred Rothe increasingly consciously refrains from the well-known quality classifications according to the EU wine market regulation such as quality wine or Prädikatswein etc. This in no way means that the quality of the wines falls by the wayside. On the contrary - it gives winegrowers freedom from the constraints of the EU wine market regulation to raise their organic wines to a new level in terms of both quality and taste. Nature simply does not like regulations. This is also the path taken by winegrowers in other wine-growing regions, such as Italy. These wines then bear the designation "Landwein", which does not detract from their high quality.
The Franconian winegrower also pays attention to the production of amphora wine or also called natural wine. Especially for this purpose Manfred Rothe has buried 2 oversized Georgian wine amphorae made of clay in his wine cellar. This way of producing wine has a tradition of more than 7000 years and requires a great deal of knowledge and sensitivity in the production of amphora wine.
