The somewhat different Gewürztraminer: An exciting and tasty reinterpretation
Gewürztraminer is a variety that has many lovers in the wine world, but at the same time it is also very polarising.
One thing is certain, Gewürztraminer reflects a piece of South Tyrolean wine history, as it was already widespread in the warmer regions of the country in the Middle Ages. This very own variety has always produced very expressive and aromatic wines.
Marlies and Martin from the Abrahem winery try to bottle their Gewürztraminer as pure as possible, without any additives and without residual sugar. This means: highly ripe grapes, spontaneous maceration and refinement in used wooden barrels.
In short, it is a unique and exciting new interpretation of South Tyrolean Gewürztraminer and an orange wine par excellence.
This Gewürztraminer is aromatic, spicy, very dry and has rough edges - the way not only the Abrahams like it! Our insider tip off the Traminer mainstream.
In contrast to the "normal" Gewürztraminers, its tannin content makes this South Tyrolean Traminer from Weingut Abraham an uncomplicated food companion, which we can only confirm.
The 2018 vintage of this South Tyrolean wine was awarded 4 grapes by Gault&Millau 2021/22!
