ANNVER St. Magdalener Classico | Pfannenstielhof | Bolzano | South Tyrol

Fruity, rich and powerful, with finesse and elegance - A real "Lagrein from the soil"

.
The ANNVER from Pfannenstielhof is Johannes Pfeifer's homage to his two daughters ANNa and VERonika. For Johannes Pfeifer, the ANNVER is proof that St. Magdalener has refinement, longevity and potential. This elegant red wine made from 95% Vernatsch and 5% Lagrein as a blended set is a St. Magdalener with finesse and tension. The ANNVER St. Magdalener Classico is a trendy food companion to alpine and Mediterranean dishes.

Sensory
The ANNVER delights in the glass with its bright, intense garnet red. The nose reveals fresh and intense fruit, floral aromas and spice. On the palate, this excellent St. Magdalener Classico convinces with its harmony between pronounced fruit, mild acidity and silky tannin. The St. Magdalener ANNVER from Pfannenstielhof is very balanced, complex and structured. Its finish is soft with a lot of reverberation.

Processing
Nature-friendly, integrated cultivation. This includes careful manual work, be it winter pruning, defoliation, yield reduction or harvesting the grapes.

The Vernatsch and Lagrein grapes for the ANNVER are grown as a mixed set and harvested and pressed together.

Maturation and fermentation
Fermentation, malolactic fermentation and ageing in steel tanks. This was followed by storage in steel tanks for approx. 18 months and bottle ageing for a further 6 months.

The vineyard location

The vines for ANNVER grow on a well-aerated, heat-retaining moraine soil of porphyry and dolomite material. The vineyard is situated about 280 m.a.s.l. in the classic St. Magdalen cultivation area in Bolzano, directly above the Pfannenstielhof.

Voices from the wine world on the Pfannenstielhof ANNVER St. Magdalener Classico

Der Feinschmecker 4/2021:
"The St. Magdalener "Annver" is of a quality that one would not have thought of the Vernatsch grape even ten years ago. Pfeifer has helped the underrated grape variety to new heights."

Jens Priewe in Der Feinschmecker issue 12/2020:
"I have never drunk such a good St. Magdalener as the "Annver": a soft, spicy, wonderfully drinkable wine, created from a selection of the oldest Vernatsch vines. It is dedicated to Anna and Veronika, Hannes Pfeifer's young daughters, who are just about to follow in their father's footsteps. If you pick up the wine directly at the Pfannenstielhof on the Bolzano valley floor, you will get to know the two of them. It's best to buy the wine right away in the magnum bottle."
